We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, including your name, email address, and phone number. We also collect information about your use of the app, including orders placed, trucks followed, and location data when you use the map features.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services, process transactions, send you notifications about your orders, and communicate with you about promotions and updates. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Information Sharing

We share your information with food truck owners only to the extent necessary to complete your orders. We may share anonymised, aggregated data with third parties for analytics purposes. We do not share your personal information with advertisers.

We use the following service providers to operate FoodTruckr, each of which processes certain personal information on our behalf:

Google Firebase — app hosting, authentication, database, and cloud storage.
Paystack — payment processing (we do not store your card or banking details).

All service providers are contractually required to keep your information secure and confidential, and may only use it to provide their service to us.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, on Google's cloud infrastructure. Depending on the specific service, this infrastructure may be located in South Africa or in other countries where Google operates data centres. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

5. International Data Transfers

Some of the service providers we use, including Google Firebase and Paystack, may process or store your personal information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives a level of protection that is consistent with the requirements of POPIA, including relying on service providers who maintain appropriate security and confidentiality safeguards.

6. Your Rights (POPIA)

In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to access your personal information, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your account and data, and object to the processing of your personal information. 7. Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Paystack, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your credit card or banking details. Please refer to Paystack's privacy policy for information about how they handle your payment data.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services to you and for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

If you close your FoodTruckr account, we will delete your personal information within 90 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for longer — for example, financial and transaction records, which we retain for 5 years in line with South African tax law.

9. Children's Privacy

FoodTruckr is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@foodtruckrapp.com and we will delete it promptly.

10. Location Data

We use your location to show nearby food trucks on the map. Location data is only accessed when you are using the app and is not stored permanently. Food truck owners share their location voluntarily to help customers find them.

11. Push Notifications

We send push notifications about order updates and truck activity. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

12. Lodging a Complaint

If you believe we have not complied with this Privacy Policy or with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you may lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator. The Information Regulator's contact details are available at inforegulator.org.za.
